![]() My eventual weapon loadout is currently planned to beĪnd I'm not bothering with the flamethrower, the force gun, or the machine gun. I am looking forward to getting the Ripper, but don't have it yet. Other than that, I've upgraded oxygen once for the RIG, and believe that given there's always a save station before a vacuum bit, that I never need more. ![]() My new Line Gun, however, gives me the option of upgrading Damage or Capacity right from the start.Īlternatively, I've got two empty nodes to fill before I can improve Duration or Capacity for my Stasis gun, which I am finding very useful. I've arranged it so that I'm next to two different Capacity nodes, both of which lead to more Damage, without hitting any empty nodes. I have upgraded the Plasma Cutter so that I've done Damage twice, and Capacity once. I am up to Chapter 3 and I have the Plasma Cutter, along with a new shiny Line Gun. I've been enjoying Dead Space, and have reached a point where I'd like some pointers or recommendations for my upgrade priorities. It's Dead Space's version of the "HCE Magnum," "Gravity Gun," or "Lancer-Chainsaw." I just don't feel like I'm playing Dead Space unless I have a Plasma Cutter set to horizontal and pre-aimed at knee-height.Hi everybody. ![]() But it definitely impacted my enjoyment of the game.Īfter the first 2 games, I felt like the Plasma Cutter was the defining feature of the Dead Space series. Now maybe this was done on purpose to force the player to play "Engineer" and build a more effective weapon or maybe the developers were trying to steer away from how the previous two titles were treated as "one-gun-challenge" campaigns. Later in the campaign (and on "new game +" play-throughs), you can outfit the gun with enough +3 Damage, +3 ROF, and +3 Reload circuits that it borders on "overpowered." But this doesn't change the fact that the Plasma Cutter feels bad in the early chapters. The quick enemies plus the lack of "stagger"-effects also makes the Plasma Cutter feel worse in DS3. The workbench system in Dead Space 3 really ruined how the Plasma Cutter feels as a starter-weapon because you are no longer able to push your first 5-7 Power Nodes to pump its damage in the early chapters of the game. ![]()
